Statistics

According to scientists, more than one and one-half million species exist on the earth today. However, recent estimates state that at least 20 times that many species are living on the planet.

At the moment there are 38 known species of mammals that are extinct. However there are some that are kept in captivity with scientists trying to save them from going extinct.

Here are some of the latest statistics:
This is what the public is doing to help.

  • This shows the animals states and the type of species in that state.

Is it happening here in New Zealand?

Yes,although we don't realize it so much it is happening in NZ as much as it is happening in other countries all over the world. There are many people that  are joining conservation groups to help save animals in other countries but not many joining groups associated in New Zealand.
It relates a lot to new zealand as we have a lot of endangered species all over the country in need of help.
Here are some endangered animals including;Giant panda,grey wolf,koala,siberian tiger,african elephant,black rhino,snow leopard,sumatran orangutan and a fur seal.

Are we part of the problem or are we part of the solution?

We are part of the solution as there are many ways we can help out and solve this matter. We can resolve this problem by joining conservation and help groups, creating blogs about this matter, recycling and showing the world more about it so we will do more.

We are also part of the problem as we aren't doing anything at the moment to help out.Having this blog will show the world what they can do .We need to stand up for these animals and stop  what is happening to them by just putting in a little bit of effort to do something.

Why we choose to focus on this topic:

Our fertile question was are we part of the question or are we part of the solution?;and thought that this would fit perfectly into that criteria.

Our group choose to focus on this topic as it is a well known topic around the world and has been under debate for many years.
It is something that we can help with and change many animals lives.
We choose this as putting something on the internet that can be seen worldwide will affect everyone and will teach them more about endangered species.

With our help at getting everybody to know about this topic we might be able to save many lives.
This topic is a good subject for us as it is worldwide and needs something done about it straightaway.
There is always something we can do from checking this blog to joining a group.

Please help us by checking this blog to see all the solutions and things you can do to help the endangered animals around the globe.

Introduction

We are learning about Endangered Animals, that's why we created this blog to inform people about the animals that are going extinct. They are going to die because Mankind's behavior towards the animals are harming them and threatening their species. The animals are getting used for money meat and valuables. These so called valuables deprive endangered animals of there lives and homes and yet we still watch these animals suffer and die. We still have time to stand up and help these animals via websites, animal support groups.
Keep up to date with this blog and you will see the many solutions and answers we have came up to do with endangered animals, please follow us and see the many things you can do to help.

What can we do to help?

There are a lot of ways in which we can help endangered animals out without having to move a muscle.
We can join help agencies, conservation teams, and stop things such as littering and poaching. If we pay a dollar a month towards an endangered animal we can end up saving a whole species of animals.
If we don't help now eventually all the animals will be gone and there will be nothing to keep us alive, let alone keep the rest of the food chain going.
Just a bit of extra change or the small effort of joining an organisation can help all of the animals suffering today.

What are endangered animals?

Endangered animals are animals that are threatened with extinction and species are dying of underpopultion.
Some of the main reasons a lot of species are becoming endangered and on the edge of extinction are:pollution, habitat destruction, hunting and poaching, disease and predators.
Ways man are helping:we have zoos, rehabilittion centres, conservation centres and also SPCA that are all helping to give animals new homes and to start breeding them.

We can also help by looking after their enviroments and not interfering, recycling all of our rubbish so that the habitats are not polluted and we can also join help organisations to fund for the species.Out of all the animals living on earth today there is known to be more than 40% endangered.

Here are some endangered species verging on extinction, tiger, giant panda, black rhino, komodo dragon, orangutan, gorilla and snow leopard.
Without our help we cannot save any of these species from extinction.
Eventually when all these animals are extinct then the whole food chain will not work and a lot of other species will die out.
